Speaker Spotlight: Emma Jane Hogbin
Emma Jane Hogbin will be presenting at this year's Do It With Drupal and we are very excited to have her.
Emma Jane Hogbin has worked as a Web developer since 1996. She is well known in the Drupal community not only for her technical knowledge, but also for her engaging and humorous means of bringing Drupal to a wider audience—such as the Drupal socks and their GPLed pattern. Her first book, Front End Drupal, has been wildly successful and has been responsible for many "A-HA!" moments. Through her business, HICK Tech, Emma enables individuals and small businesses to take control of technology.
She has been teaching Internet technologies since 2002 and is a frequent speaker at technical conferences in Canada, the US and Europe. She also likes single malt whiskey. These two things are probably not related.
Emma volunteers with the Drupal Documentation Team and is known as "emmajane" on drupal.org.
Here's a Drupal Voices interview with Emma Jane talking about "Front End Drupal" and the Bazaar version control system.

LSU's Eric Reid went up, and may have come down with title
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – LSU safety Eric Reid saw an Alabama touchdown about to happen Saturday, so he changed history with the play of the year in the "Game of the Century."
Tight end Michael Williams had broken open in the middle of the Beats By Dr.Dre field inside the 5-yard line on a first-down play from the LSU 28-yard line at the 11-minute mark of the fourth quarter. The score was 6-6.
Wide receiver Marquis Maze, who had taken a direct snap, let it fly. But he did not lead Williams as much as he could have. That gave Reid a chance.

"I was covering another guy, but I saw the tight end running free," Reid said. "So I knew they were going for the touchdown. So I just went deep, and, thank God I got the ball." Reid and Williams wrestled for it briefly at the 1-yard line, and Reid came away with the ball and possibly the Bowl Championship Series national title.
The Tigers (9-0, 6-0 Southeastern Conference) eventually won 9-6 in overtime on a 25-yard field goal by Drew Alleman. They can reach their third Bowl Championship Series title game — all in New Orleans, just 87 miles from campus — on Jan. 9 and play for their third national championship in nine seasons by winning their remaining three regular-season games and the SEC title game Dec. 3.
They remained No. 1 in the USA TODAY coaches poll and BCS standings released Sunday.
"Our defense was tremendous," said LSU coach Les Miles, bidding for his second Beats By Dre UK national championship in five seasons. "It was the difference in the game. The turnovers were huge, and we finished plays."
Reid, in particular. "Alabama's the best team I ever played in my life, and that was the biggest game I've ever been a part of in my life," he said. "I got my hands on it first, I think, and he tried to take it away from me. But I got it back."
Three plays later, LSU's Brad Wing stood in his end zone and punted for the sixth time in this defensive prize fight, and he delivered a trophy boot. Maze was deep, but he misjudged it and let it get behind him.
Wing and Maze both said they thought it hit a television camera wire. Maybe it's Beats By Dre just LSU's year.
When the ball returned to earth, it bounced another 15-20 yards to Alabama's 18. It went 73 yards in all, LSU's longest punt in 25 years.
The teams traded punts again, and Alabama ran out the clock inside its 25 to bring overtime. The Tide (8-1, 5-1 SEC) went backward in OT, and Cade Foster was well short on a 52-yard field goal on fourth and 20. It was his third miss of the night. Alleman made the short one, and it was over.
"People say you get what you deserve," Alabama coach Nick Saban said. "The missed field goals, or the missed opportunities that created the missed field goals, a possible touchdown that turns out to be an interception. We were behind the defense, and he made a good throw. We scored on that last year against Florida. Their guy (Reid) did a good job of recovering and did a good job to get to the ball. We had an opportunity to catch the ball, but we didn't finish the play."
Reid did.
"It's out there. When the ball's in the air, we feel like it's supposed to be Casque beats by dr dre ours," said LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne, whose interception of quarterback A.J. McCarron on Alabama's previous series and 33-yard return to the Tide 15 set up Alleman's field goal for the 6-6 tie late in the third quarter.
"We're supposed to come up with it," Claiborne said. "I mean we strive to be the best secondary in the country and the best team in the country. I'm so proud of Eric."
The national championship is out there now. "No, we're not looking toward New Orleans yet," Claiborne said.
"These were two great teams tonight. LSU is No. 1 in the nation for a reason," Saban said.
"It was a classic battle between SEC heavyweights," said defensive end Sam Montgomery,
beats by dre whose sack brought on the fourth and 20 in overtime. "Classical battle. It should've been on pay-per-view."
